Nick Barry Technical Mentoring
Boom Welding
NBC offers specific training to tradesmen so as they fully understand the implications of poor weld repairs.
This training teaches the participant how to:
- Meet Bucyrus welding standards and comply with the Bucyrus Lacing (GM4) and Chord (GM9) weld tests.
- Apply and identify the location of suitably profiled welds to reduce the initiation of boom chord and lacing cracks.
- Access cracks under clusters and rebuild the cluster correctly i.e. proper fit up and alignment.
- Manufacture replacement lacing pups and windows.
- Read and interpret Bucyrus Boom drawings
- Build alignment tools (Gauges) to ensure correct fit up.
The training can be structured to suit the needs and skill level of the participants and the customer’s specific requirements.
There is no question that as a result of this training your men and equipment will be better for it.
Please call to discuss a tailored training package to help your people and your machine (Click here)
We also offer boom chord grinding machines to suit 12" – 14" – 16" chord which will typically bring the butt weld (Pad weld) to a finishing/sanding stage within 3 hours. This chord grinder saves many hours, operator fatigue and significantly reduces the risk for operator strain, sprain and using the correct PPE the potential for eye injuries is greatly reduced. Gear Auditing and Condition Assessment
NBC offer what we call "expert" tuition and guidance to Dragline Maintainers and Planners. This training is broken into two topics:
- A training package has been developed and will be tailored to suit the specifics of your machine and is specific to teaching new employees with little Dragline experience the fundamentals of the machine and basic maintenance skills.
- This training helps new employees feel more comfortable working on and around Draglines and primarily promotes safety to both the employee and the machine.
- Training is specific to understanding gearing life, gearing alignment issues, brake maintenance, maintenance of propel systems i.e. cam frames etc, Drum auditing, sheave auditing and both static and operational checks. We typically try to do this training under a machine audit situation so the participants are involved in their own equipment and understand the condition of their machine
The package for this component of the training will be specific to client needs and requirements.
